Christopher Foster is a local pianist, bassist, singer, composer, arranger and teacher. He has performed in and around the Tulsa area for the last 25 years and currently heads up the bands Green Corn Rebellion and The Grits known for their New Orleans style horn arrangements and gospel-style vocal harmonies. He has performed at many regional festivals (including SXSW and the Woody Guthrie Festival), the Tulsa PAC and other theaters, local art galleries, casinos, weddings and private parties, and has organized and led several parade-style marching bands. He has directed a handful of musicals and co-written a few. He is the producer for a half-dozen records released over the last several years and has recorded and performed with such esteemed locals as Steve Pryor, Annie Ellicott, Wink Burcham and John Moreland.
Christopher studied music at USAO in Chickasha and has been teaching piano, guitar and bass privately in the Tulsa area for 15 years. In 2017 and 2018 he was awarded the Carmichael Grant for the Arts in the Tulsa Public Schools, and founded the Emerson Elementary Choir and Percussion Clubs. He has led the “Eastside Pickers” guitar class at Life Senior Services for the last 2½ years.
